Apologies for the recent inactivity on the site. I, Bryan Smith, acknowledge that Rahul Dowlath (under TechZone) has done a very similar two-part article to this one, but, as I can proudly say, this post will feature many interesting points of which he did not cover. I hope you will enjoy this article. If you have comments, corrections, or anything of the sort, feel free to post them. So, it’s possibly one of the more talked about subjects on the web. Mac or PC. A mere mention of this topic is enough to start World War III right here on the Internet. I am one of those lucky soles who has the pleasure of using both everyday, so, let’s take another look at it, from the perspective of a person who has used both.

Right. Microsoft Windows. Love it, or toss-it-out-the-window hate it. Regardless, it is the primary Operating System (besides Linux, in some cases) for our world today. Schools use it, big companies use it, and, basically, if you don’t know how to use Windows, you’re either computer illiterate or have spent far to much time around Linux or Macs. Windows, admittedly, is great. In number-crunching, it Excels. (No pun intended). Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, are all effective tools for getting the job done. Unless you have an error message along the way.But, on the creative side, ummm… err…. not so much. I know, and admit, that there are brilliant programs for making some great stuff on Windows, some free, some ridiculously expensive, and, they do their job well. (Sony Acid, Serif PhotoDraw, eJay, anim8or etc come to mind)But, that is my point. Normally, they are not included. So, guess what? It’s up to you, Joe Blogs, to get which programs you want. And that can leave a nice hole in your wallet. Well, they are pretty customizable, though, which is great if you want to stylize your PC. There are also MILLIONS of programs available, and, PCs are also a considered Gaming platform, so there are tons of games available to simply purchase ‘n play.Then we have the Mac. It’s simple, stylish, and “just works.” Gone are the continous errors and “informative and helpful” messages. Gone is the start menu and quick launch buttons. Instead, you’ve got so much more. To put it simply, Macs are beautifully designed. Compared to the average PC, (things like Alienware excluded) it has the strength of a computing God.Macs deliver on performance, design and overall killer applications. Although there aren’t as many supported programs for Macs as there are for PCs, and most games aren’t supported, you don’t seem to mind. There is one simple reason: iLife.iLife is a pre-installed “package” if you would call it that, that comes with a Mac OS, like Leopard. The Contents of iLife are all you will ever need to create something great on your mac.A quote springs to mind from the rap from Mac or PC;”Well I’ve only been around since ’84, but my ease of use has done so much more!”To me, this qoute defines a Mac. If you are converting from Windows, a Mac may feel slightly awkward, but, all things considered, it is the easier system to learn. It is not complicated at allAlthough Macs may be a hell of a lot more expensive than a PC, it’s definite value for money. It’s up to you which you prefer, a Mac or a PC, but, in my honest, unbiased (hopefully) and truthful opinion, Macs are the best. I can’t get over it. And, keep in mind I use both. - Bryan Smith

Aston Martin DBS and Jaguar XF!!

If the infamous revving of the DB9 was not enough…. here comes the new Aston Martin…. the DBS!!

Wondering what Aston’s new business venture may look like? Well, if you are a frequent film-watcher, and have watched the last James Bond; Casino Royale, you’ve already seen it. Yes, that’s right, even Bond has been behind it’s wheel. The DBS was revealed earlier this year…. but if you aren’t a motorhead you probably wouldn’t have seen it.

The DBS is powered by a 6 litre V12 and has been tuned to give 380 Kw and 570Nm or torque. And the acceleration…. 0-100Km/h in 4.3 seconds.

And, so, moving away from Aston, we come to the new Jaguar, the XF. It seems Jaguar has gotten bored of their old look and have started a whole new design language. The new XF is four-door, and is set to replace the S-Type. The new Jag has a whole set of nice features… touchscreen interior…. parking aids… distance control and an electronic parking brake. The XF seems to be a make (or Break) car for Jaguar, and will range from a 2.7 litre v6 diesel to a 4.2 litre V8.

Jackpot!! Free Software!!

A great deal of people seem to be looking into free software these days. Now, if they don’t come packed with viruses, that’s even better, isn’t it?

Why would you want to go out and buy something like Microsoft Word, when you can quickly google it and have a free rival program that’s just as good downloaded in seconds? Is this the new logic for a new millenium, and a new generation?

Sometimes, free software just isn’t that good and can’t compete with the professional level of software that Microsoft or Apple or any other Company could produce, simply because they were not built for fun; they were built for MONEY. And, the better the program, the more people will buy it, and so the larger a CEO’S wallet become. So, it’s quite simple. Make a good application; make a good profit. End of story.

But now. is the old fairy tale ending? More and more quality free applications are becoming available on the web. And, mind you, some are excellent. It would not be suprising if Bill Gates choked over how good some applications are/ or are becoming.

A good few examples are the Serif programs, which are available for free downloads (but at later stages, if you want to upgrade, it costs money), the Anim8or program by Steve Glanville, a semi-professional work-in-progress application which could one day rival the likes of 3D Studio Max, Maya, and Lightwave.

So, in the end, it is an interesting thing to ponder, isn’t it? Will free software become the world’s preferred programs? It’s up to you to think about it, and perhaps that’s part of the reason it hasn’t already happened.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back, prospective [and hopeful] viewers, to the brand new Juju Online. Yes, we know we’ve changed quite a bit over the last few months, but change is a good thing, isn’t it? Isn’t it??

Well, this time, we have decided to take a more “spiritual” approach. Juju Online was originally a “Spiritual” website, wasn’t it? And, so, keeping with that theme, Juju Online will soon be publishing a three story article, named “The ways of good Juju”.

The article will keep a broad range of values and lessons, that can become quite important in life, without all the sorrow and sadness of and Agony Aunt and without all the strange feelings of an advice collumn. In the words of Juju MD, Bryan Smith:

“There is a lot of hate, mistrust, and treachery in our world today, and the only way we could ever hope to change this is by being a leader; setting examples, letting others follow them, and to pass down one’s leadership ability. Only then would the world ever change.”

The Article will be an interesting venture, and, hopefully, might one day shake the world.

Juju Online will also be keeping you posted on the development of the new Idiana Jones Next-Gen video game, The Adventures of Jorran Skorm, and, will also be delving slightly into the world of motorvehicles. Keep on checking out the sites for more updates.
